Bean is a free, easy-to-use word processor for Mac OS X. It is Open Source, Cocoa, and the best thing about Bean is that it is free. It might not be a replacement for Microsoft Word but it is a really neat and free word processor for the Mac OS X.

Doesn't open office work with Mac? That's about as good as Microsoft Office in my experience.
NeoOffice is the port of OpenOffice for the Mac.
I've not used Bean, but it sounds less full-featured.
yes open office does work for the Mac. I use it most of the time on my PC instead of M$ Word. Thanks for the comments
Thanks for the tip - I've been looking for a decent word processor for my Mac for a long time. Don't want to go with MS Office :)
I might also try NeoOffice.
